Craftsbury Schools Campuses

Craftsbury Schools (aka Craftsbury Academy) has been in existence since 1832. The school has seen many changes and renovations over our almost 200-year history, but what has remained the same is our sense of community within the school and town. Craftsbury Schools serves around 200 students in grades PreK-12 on two campuses. Our PreK-2nd graders meet on our campus located at 83 North Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury, VT, and our 3rd-12th graders meet on our campus - sometimes referred to as the Academy campus or Craftsbury Common campus - located about a mile up the road, at 1422 North Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury Common, VT. Academics & Programs

Craftsbury Schools offers challenging academics and enriching co-curricular programs. Students are able to take Advanced Placement Courses in Science, History, and English.  Students have the opportunity to attend the Green Mountain Technical and Career Center based in Hyde Park, and Vermont high school students are also able to take two college courses for free while attending high school. Senior students are also able to take their senior year at an in-state college, which is a wonderful opportunity to reduce the overall cost of college as well as an opportunity to explore interests.

Community Partnerships

Craftsbury students benefit from strong educational partnerships with: the Center for an Agricultural Economy, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Craftsbury Historical Society, DREAM Mentoring, Four Winds Institute, Green Mountain Farm to School, Hireability Vermont, Rural Arts Collaborative, and Sterling College, among others. These collaborative partners help us extend robust and creative educational opportunities to our students both inside and outside the classroom.

Craftsbury Schools Woodlot and Trails

The Craftsbury town woodlot allows our students to engage in outdoor learning a short distance from our school. Our school board provides transportation funding so our students are able to take advantage of this wonderful outdoor learning experience. Students and staff use this location for ecology studies, and other place based science opportunities.

Town of Craftsbury

Craftsbury is a quintessential Vermont town located in the picturesque Northeast Kingdom. The town includes Craftsbury Common, Craftsbury Village, East Craftsbury, Collinsville and Mill Village, which have a combined year-round population of 1,136.

Craftsbury is known for being the filming location of Alfred Hitchcock’s "The Trouble with Harry" in 1955. It was also well known for being the site of the Craftsbury Fiddler's Contest for many years.

Craftsbury is also home to world-class nordic skiing. The Craftsbury Outdoor Center (COC) frequently hosts races drawing elite skiers from across the nation and also serves as a racing venue for our middle and high school Nordic Ski Team competitions. In addition, Craftsbury Schools partners with COC athletes who provide physical education classes like mountain biking, snow shoeing, and nordic skiing to our students in grades K-12.
